- Secret Lives, Rosaleen Love
- THe Ringmaster's Daughter, Jostein Gaardner (charming but not challenging)
- Novascapes Volume 1, Cassandra E. Page
- The Rosie Project, Graeme Simsion (was skeptical at first, but it is a charming book)
- The Courier’s New Bicycle, Kim Westwood (not as apocalyptic as expected, but very good all the same)
- Drowned Vanilla, Livia Day (omg loved this!! Tasmania, ice cream and Tabitha making some very silly decisions...)
- The Night Circus, Erin Morgenstern (loved the concept, but there were a few holes in the plot)
- Cranky Ladies of history, Tehani Wessely and Tansy Rayner Roberts (editors) (great selection of historical figures, known and lesser known)
- 2312, Kim Stanley Robinson (loved this! great scope but still human)
- The Ill-Made Mute, Cecilia Dart-Thornton (sorry - yawn fest)
- Cherry Crow Children, Deborah Kalin (so dark, so fabulous)
- Last Chance to See, Douglas Adams and Mark Carwardine (excellent historical document! plus animals)
- Gone Girl, Gillian Flynn (well that was a bit of a pageturner!)
- The Host, Stephanie Meyer (marginally less ridiculous than Twilight)
- The Shambling Guide to New York City, Mur Lafferty (not Buffy, not even close)
- The Locus Awards, Ed. Jonathan Strahan and Charles N. Brown (anthology of excellent stories)
- The Solaris Book of New Science Fiction V. 2, Ed. George Mann (suffered in comparison ot the Locus anthol)
- Web, John Wyndham (interesting from a historical perspective, but not groundbreaking in today's context)
- Razorhurst, Justine Larbelestier (excellent book, great Australian history + ghosts!)
- Trouble Twisters, Sean Williams and Garth Nix (this is a kids book and I should not be reading this)
- The Blackmail Blend, Livia Day (typically charming Tabitha)
- The Chemistry of Tears, Peter Carey (over my head)
- Wolf Hall, Hilary Mantel (wonderfully human portrayal of Cromwell)
- Promises in Death, JD Robb (not my thing)
- Five Quarters of the Orange, Joanne Harris (engrossing)
- Summerland, Michael Chabon (pleasant but was it successful?)
- Bad Feminist, Roxanne Gay (though provoking pleasure)
- Foxglove Summer, Ben Aaronovitch (good return to form)
- The Three-Body Problem, Cixin Liu (intriguing)
- Her Smoke Rose Up Forever, James Tiptree/Alice B Sheldon/Racoona Sheldon (amazing stories from an amazing person)
- The Double Life of Alice B Sheldon, Julie Phillips (amazing biography of an amazing person)
- Letters to Tiptree, Alexandra Pierce and Alisa Krasnostein (amazing letters to an amazing person)
- Wool, Hugh Howey (story overcomes sometimes poor writing)
- Still Alice, Lisa Genova (look, sorry, underwhelmed)
- Redemption Ark, Alastair Reynolds (good, but long)
- A Visit from the Goon Squad, Jennifer Egan (unexpected, delightful)
